Thuan Nguyen

Thuan Nguyen is 9 years old and attends Ewa Beach Elementary School.

He has enjoyed listening to his older brother Thang play the ukulele since he was a baby. The music was what calmed him and helped him to sleep.

He wanted to play the ukulele and started taking lessons from Kumu Alan Akaka when he was six years old. He saw his older brother playing the steel guitar so he,too, wanted to learn to play and started to take steel guitar lessons in December, 2025.

His goals for steel guitar is to be able to play comfortably on the stage and "'not make any mistakes," and to play for guests at his home and at church. His "dream" is to be able to participate in an outer island festival.

His YouTube channel, Faraday808, contains videos of him playing the ukulele, and eventually he would like to add videos of him playing the steel guitar. He wants "to bring some joy in people's lives through music."
